The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has said there is no more hiding place for terrorists in Nigeria, as operatives now adopt high breed operational tactics to deal with terrorism and other forms of crime in the country.

He spoke at the weekend during an exercise code-named “Exercise Mugun Bugu” (Deadly Strike) at the Nigerian Army Training Center in Kontagora, Niger State where he said experiences gathered by the Army in the fight against insurgency and banditry had given reason for  the  review of  its training to involve  different models of warfare.

“There is no more  hiding place for terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other  criminals that take up arms against the state,” he said, adding that the models introduced  include conventional and unconventional tactics.

While positing  that the security challenges facing the country  were not insurmountable, he said it must be achieved through effective training and synergy.

“The involvement of the Nigerian Army  in counter insurgency and internal security operations  across the nation necessitated the need  to prepare the Army for high breed operations and tasks ahead.

“The Nigerian Army  has learnt lessons especially in the North East, North Central and other theaters by combing conventional  capabilities with unconventional tactics due to the prevailing situational environment,” he added.

He assured that the Nigerian Army along with other security agencies and stakeholders would defeat the adversaries, adding that the  Nigerian Army would not rest until peace and security are restored across the country as mandated by  President Muhammadu Buhari, as training in the Army was continuous taking  into cognisance the changing dynamics of the security threats.
