The Association of Ex Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has appointed the immediate past chairman of Owan West Local Government Area, Hon Frank Ilaboya, to chair its inaugural award ceremony, scheduled for August this year. Hon Gurin stated, “Your appointment is a result of your vast knowledge in this area and your contribution to ASELGON as the media & publicity committee chairman.“

Alongside Hon Ilaboya, the committee will comprise a distinguished group of members, including Hon Sabo Bako Sade as vice chairman, Hon Abayomi Tella, Hon Gonana Kinka, Hon Scott Ogbemudia, and Hon Kawu Idris.

The committee also includes Hon Fidelis Odo, Hon Yomi Ayorinde, Hon (Mrs) Obi Okoeyim, Hon Garba Adeniyi, Hon Dance Obama, and Hon C N Haruna, and Mr Oladale Ogunsola will serve as secretary.

Hon Albert Asipa, President of ASELGON, emphasised the committee’s vital role in organising the first-ever award ceremony to recognise State Governors who have made significant contributions to their states. “I believe we, the former local government chairmen, are in the best position to spearhead this type of award ceremony due to our grassroots orientation and years of collaboration with these governors,“ Hon Asipa remarked. He expressed confidence in the committee‘s ability, citing its members‘ proven integrity.

This year‘s theme, „Impactful Governance Recognition Award,“ will honour two governors from each of the six geopolitical zones in the Federation.

In response to his appointment, Hon Ilaboya, who currently serves as the executive director for sports development and marketing at the Edo State Sports Commission, expressed gratitude to the national executive of ASELGON, under the leadership of Hon Albert Asipa, for the opportunity to serve the association once again.

“I am thrilled with this new assignment, especially after recently being tasked with projecting ASELGON‘s image as the chairman of media and publicity. This role feels familiar, as our organisation, Sportsville, has hosted one of Nigeria‘s most credible sports awards for the past five years. I will draw from this experience to ensure the ASELGON Award ceremony meets the high expectations outlined in our terms of reference,“ he stated.
