Mohammed made the pledge while he received the committee on the Sexual and Gender-based Violence (GBV) under the leadership of the state’s first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, at Bauchi Government House on Friday.

He commended the members of the committee for their active participation in educating the public on the effects of the abuses. He said the state government is concerned about the rampant cases of GBV across the state and described the visit as a wake-up call to his administration.

Mohammed vowed to intensify the effort by taking the responsibility as the leader with a call on stakeholders across the state to rally behind the advocacy to ensure the success of the campaign.

Governor Bala called on the action group to look inward by involving parents, civil organisations, religious and local leaders in the campaign, emphasizing the importance of being circumspect and providing security agencies with needful information.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensuring that criminals are crushed, issuing a stern warning that anybody caught sabotaging the campaign would not be tolerated.

Responding to the committee’s plea on the need to establish the mobile court, Bala Mohammed ordered the State Attorney General and commissioner of Justice to expedite action in establishing the court, noting that timely prosecution of the offenders would serve as deterrent to others.

The state’s first lady, Hajiya Aisha commended the governor for his support and contributions to the development of the committee, assuring him of their continued collaboration for the growth and development of Bauchi State.
