Bauchi Governor Sends List Of Commissioner-nominees To Assembly

Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has sent the names of 23 commissioner-nominees to Bauchi State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council in line with the provision of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

During House plenary yesterday, the speaker, Hon Abubakar Suleiman, received a message from the governor requesting it to screen and confirm nominees for appointment as commissioners.

Presenting the message of the governor during the plenary, majority leader of the House, Hon Saleh Hodi Jibir read out the names of the nominees.

Alkaleri LGA got two nominees, Maiwada Bello (Geo Barrister); and Ibrahim Gambo; also Bauchi local government got two commissioner nominees Mahmoud Babamaji Abubakar and Hon Danlami Ahmed Kawule respectively; Bogoro: Tsammani Lydia Haruna; Dambam: Ahmed Sarki Jalam; Darazo: Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza; Dass: Usman Santuraki; Ganjuwa: Abdul Hassan; Gamawa: Muhammad Salees; Giade: Dr Yakubu Adamu.

Others are Jama’are: Usman Abdulkadir Moddibo; Itas/Gadau: Hajara Jibrin Gidado; Katagum: Hon Farouk Mustapha; Kirfi: Hajara Yakubu Wanka; Misau: Aminu Hammayo; Ningi: Hassan El-Yakub, SAN; Shira:  Muhammad Hamisu Shira; and Tafawa Balewa:  Silas Madugu.

The rest are Tafawa Balewa: Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu; and also Toro LGA get two commissioner nominees, Jamila Muhammad Dahiru and Dr Adamu Umar Sambo; Warji: Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki while from Zaki local government the governor choice Amina Muhammad Katagum as commissioner nominee.

According to a statement issued by Abdul Ahmad Burra, spokesperson of the speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Habibu Umar (Kirfi constituency) suggested that the House should screen the nominees on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of August, 2023. He was seconded by Hon Lawan Dauda (Sade constituency).

After the speaker put the motion to a voice vote and the members voted in favour, the House resolved to screen the nominees on 2nd, 3rd and 4th of August 2023.
