The Bauchi State chapter of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called on Governor Bala Mohammed to appoint competent and capable persons to manage the affairs of the sports sector in the state.

The state chairman of the association, Mahmud Yakubu, gave the advice in a press statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi.

He said this was necessary, considering the dismal performance of the state in almost all the sporting activities it took part within the last four years in spite of the huge investment by the government in sports.

Yakubu said as stakeholders in sports, sports writers have been monitoring the performances of all the appointees in the state’s sports sector based on outcome of events they handled.

He said sports as a sector has the potential of providing employment opportunities to teeming youths in the state.
