In a fiercely contested Premier League match at the Amex Stadium, Brighton & Hove Albion emerged victorious against Newcastle United with a 2-1 scoreline, much to the delight of the home fans.
The match kicked off with both teams displaying attacking intent, but it was Brighton who broke the deadlock in the 41st minute. Danny Welbeck found the back of the net, converting a well-placed pass from G. Rutter, giving the Seagulls a 1-0 lead as the teams headed into the half-time break.
Newcastle came out after the interval determined to level the score, and their efforts paid off in the 76th minute. N. Woltemade scored a brilliant equaliser, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Brighton to slot the ball past the goalkeeper, making it 1-1.
However, the home side responded swiftly. Just eight minutes after Newcastle’s equaliser, Welbeck struck again, netting his second goal of the match in the 84th minute. This time, he capitalised on a defensive error from the Magpies to restore Brighton’s lead at 2-1.
Despite a late surge from Newcastle in search of another equaliser, Brighton’s defence held firm, and the match concluded with the Seagulls securing all three points. This victory marks an important step for Brighton as they look to climb the Premier League table.
Manager Fabian Hürzeler will be pleased with his team’s performance, particularly the clinical finishing from Welbeck, who was undoubtedly the star of the match.
