Canadian rock icon Bryan Adams has taken a musical stand against Donald Trump with the release of his fiery new single, “51st State.”

Released on July 1 to mark Canada Day, the track responds to Trump’s repeated remarks suggesting Canada could become the 51st state of the United States. Adams makes his position unmistakably clear, declaring in the chorus that Canada “will never be the 51st State.”

The upbeat rock anthem celebrates Canadian pride while defending the country’s sovereignty. Adams sings that although Canada and the United States have long enjoyed a close relationship, there are boundaries that should be respected.

The song also references the trade tensions between the neighbouring countries, with Adams taking a swipe at Trump’s tariff policies. “Go’n load us up with tariffs, but we’ll never be the 51st State,” he sings, reinforcing the song’s central message of resilience and national unity.
