Buhari: You’ll Die One Day, Rule Well, APC Chieftain Kailani Tells Leaders

Director-general of the Confederation of All Progressives Congress Support Groups (CASG), Prof. Muhammad Kailani, has reminded Nigerian leaders that they will die one day, like former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kailani, a long political associate of Buhari who said this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, cautioned leaders against failing to provide good governance, as one day they will have a date with death and give account before their creator.

He expressed grief over the demise of the former president, whom he described as an honest and committed leader, saying death is transient and nobody will remain on the earth forever, but come to the necessary end.

“In fact, we felt saddened, as I said earlier, and death is transient. Nobody will ever remain on this earth, and death is a necessary end. It will come when it has been ordained by the creator.

“What I want to advise all these, our leaders who have been sending in tributes and condolences, they should know that one day they will also die.

The way and manner they are ruling this country in bad governance, this should serve as a lesson to them that nobody knows when they’re going to die. And we should not keep looting, stealing the commonwealth of all of us,” Kailani said.

He noted that Buhari’s administration was hijacked by a cabal, which led to the abandonment of the people who worked closely with the former president and advised President Bola Tinubu to learn from his predecessor’s mistakes.

“They hijack the (Buhari) government, abandon the good people. Our people were not happy. I wasn’t happy either…I have forgiven Buhari. It’s not his fault. I hope the cabals surrounding him (Tinubu) will not allow what happened to Buhari to be repeated.

“We have two years to go. We are still here. We are supporting him. We want insecurity to be eliminated in Nigeria totally. Economic hardship that is on the ground today, where people are feeding from hand to mouth, in Nigeria, we are not supposed to do. What we have in this country is that we are the richest country on earth.

“So we should use those monies diligently for our people: good health, education for our children, infrastructure, and security of our people. And we should be able to eat three times a day, like ordinary citizens.

“They caged our former president, and that was why he left those whom he appointed for almost nine years. He didn’t change them.

He didn’t change them. When they give you an appointment and you are not performing, you should be booted out. Bring somebody who can do it. So I hope the president will learn from this,” Kailani said.

On his interest in the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress(APC), the party’s chieftain said he was still consulting, adding that the African Democratic Congress-led opposition coalition is not a threat to the ruling party in 2027, only if it addresses a few issues.

“As a politician, I have people nationwide. People are endorsing me. They have not stopped. I’m still making consultations. Because what we want is for President Tinubu to succeed. He should not bring a chairman who is rotten. A chairman who doesn’t know about internet democracy. A chairman who doesn’t know the rights of the media.

“We want a chairman who will bring a conducive environment for the members to operate and also Nigerians to feel happy to guide the government properly, like this government, through its eight-point agenda, so that when we are campaigning in 2027, it’s going to be a walkover. By the time we have two things now, eradicating, bringing it to the barest minimum – poverty and insecurity, it will be a walkover for us.

“If we make amends now, it (ADC) will mean nothing. Because the truth must be told..all the assemblies (coalitions) I’ve seen, I won’t comment about them now, but they formed Buhari’s government. And Buhari’s government is the carryover of this government. So, what did they do to change the lives of Nigerians? What are they going to do tomorrow? We will challenge them and we will tell them where they didn’t do it well,” Kailani added.
