Former 1st vice-president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Aknwunmi, is excited about the success of his Charity Football Tournament held at the Maracana Field in Ajegunle, Lagos.
A total of 20 youth were awarded scholarships after the event which was well attended with about 40 kids participating.
Recounting his experience about the 2013 event which was the 10th edition, Akinwunmi said there were many things to thank God for.
“It is not easy to consistently stage an event for one decade. We give God the glory especially because this time, the number of children was high.
“If you understand what I mean, getting kids together is not a small task. We kept them together, fed them and also ensured they had fun.
“The competition was also very entertaining on all fronts and so we believe it can only get better.
“I am also amazed with the support from friends, family and associates…it has been overwhelming. Some of them also made pledges to further help the kids. I am so elated. The 2023 edition was special in many ways.”
Four FA chairmen – Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Osun, who graced the occasion, described the tournament as one of the best things to have happened to youths in the country.
They commended Barrister Akinwunmi and charged him to do more for charity.
