Kano-based Chinese golfer Angel Xing Huiyao has emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) President’s Cup Golf Tournament 2025.

Over 100 female golfers from across Nigeria competed for honours at the Kano Club golf section last weekend, where the tournament took place.

Winners in various categories were presented with trophies, certificates, and tournament memorabilia.
In reaction to her victory, Angel dedicated the trophy to all the members of the Kano Club golf section for their unwavering support and cooperation.

Angel expressed her commitment to undergoing rigorous training sessions to maintain her current form, with the aim of achieving impressive results in future state and national competitions.
She stated, “This milestone not only elevates me to fame but also breaks down gender barriers in what is traditionally a male-dominated sport in the state.”

She appealed to women in the state, saying, “I encourage ladies to come out and embrace the game of golf, not only to develop and promote the sport but also to improve our health and wellbeing.”

“I have only trained for two months in the golf section, but I remained focused on my objectives, and I thank God for what I have achieved in such a short time under my coach, Suleiman,” Angel added.

She acknowledged those who contributed to her success, stating that their support will help raise the profile of the Kano golf section and enhance the reputation of the state.

It is noteworthy that the Kano golf section, established in 1908, has produced numerous national and international golfing stars, including Lawan Malam, who played alongside Tiger Woods during the British Open Golf Tournament in 2002, among others.
