Barcelona reportedly “called FIFA” to hand them a late slot at the 2025 Club World Cup.

However, Barca reports that the world football governing body knocked back their approach.

A space opened up at the tournament, after FIFA reached the decision to remove Clu Leon.

The Mexican club were expelled due to multi-ownership rules, as they are run by the same group as domestic rivals Pachuca.

Their spot eventually went to MLS outfit LAFC, as they emerged victorious in a play-in clash with Club America.

FIFA made sure they gave the spot to another team from the CONCACAF region.
