The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), a pan-Nigerian body comprising youth organisations across the six geopolitical zones, has appreciated President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of former Speaker of the 8th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, as Chairman of the Board of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC).

In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, CONYL described the appointment as a “timely and strategic move” that reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to appointing competent and visionary leaders into critical national institutions.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to President Tinubu for recognising the exceptional leadership qualities of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara,” the statement read. “His tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives was marked by transparency, accountability, and a deep commitment to national development.”

The coalition noted that Dogara’s appointment comes when the country urgently needs tested hands to steer key economic institutions towards supporting small and medium enterprises and expanding access to credit. According to the group, Dogara’s understanding of governance, inclusivity, and financial oversight makes him well-positioned to lead the NCGC to success.

CONYL also acknowledged the nationwide celebration that followed the announcement, particularly in Bauchi State, Dogara’s home state, saying the widespread goodwill is proof of the public’s confidence in his leadership.

“We are optimistic that under his chairmanship, the NCGC will witness a new era of growth, innovation, and impact, especially in providing much-needed credit guarantees for businesses that form the backbone of our economy,” the youth body stated

The coalition pledged its full support to Dogara and the NCGC Board while urging other stakeholders to rally behind the President’s reform-driven appointments aimed at stimulating economic recovery and job creation.

“Once again, we thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold leadership and for prioritising merit and integrity in appointments. Rt. Hon. Dogara’s elevation is well-deserved and highly promising for the Nigerian economy,” the statement concluded.

The National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC) was established to de-risk lending and stimulate access to finance for small businesses in Nigeria.
