Delta Police Nab Suspect With Fabricated Pistol Hidden Inside Bread

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a suspected armed robber and kidnapper and recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol concealed inside a loaf of bread.

The suspect, Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, of 24, Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was arrested on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) during a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka roundabout, Asaba.

The operatives reportedly became suspicious of Chibuike’s behaviour and subjected him to a thorough search, during which a fabricated Beretta pistol was discovered neatly hidden within a loaf of bread.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody, while the weapon was secured as an exhibit.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that investigations were ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible involvement in recent cases of armed robbery and kidnapping within Asaba metropolis and surrounding communities.

Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as a testament to the Command’s sustained intelligence-led and proactive policing.

“This discovery underscores our unwavering resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of the sophistication of their tactics,” CP Abaniwonda stated.

He urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and continue to provide the police with credible information that could aid crime prevention and detection, assuring that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The CP reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, safety and security across all parts of the state.
