The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested three persons and recovered a locally made pistol during the Student Union Government (SUG) election of the Ebonyi State University (EBSU) held at the College of Agriculture, Campus of the University.

A statement signed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Joshua Ukandu, and made available to LEADERSHIP, said the three suspects were arrested in connection with an attempt to disrupt the announcement of the election results.

Ukandu noted that the incident occurred while the election results were being announced, adding that the suspects allegedly fired gunshot to disperse the crowd.

The PPRO said the bullet shot by the suspects unfortunately struck a student, who was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, for medical attention.

“Swift response by police operatives on ground led to the arrest of the following suspects: Lawrence Azubuike ‘m’, Ibe Kenneth ‘m’, Njoku Joshua ‘m’ and the recovery of a locally made pistol used in the act,” he said.
