A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Col. David Imuse (rtd), has said the party is determined to win the forthcoming election and restore the state to its past glory.
Imuse, a medical doctor and former chairman of the Edo State chapter of the APC, stated this at a valedictory session organised for him by the state executive members of the party.
He said Edo is in limbo and tired of technocrat politicians who always come up with voodoo statistics, adding that if elected governor he would combine his experience as a soldier and a medical doctor to solve the problems of the state, using homeboy method.
He said it was because of voodoo style of governance under the Peoples Democratic Party that the former Central Hospital in Benin has been demolished for a museum, that the state library was similarly demolished for Shoprite and most state establishments have gone under, stressing that the state will not survive second affliction if the PDP was allowed to retain power in the state.
Imuse listed the late Gen. Samuel Ogbemudia, Prof. Ambrose Alli and former Governor Adams Oshiomhole as three persons who had been outstanding in the development of the state, promising that if elected governor, he would take Edo to the next level.
He particularly bemoaned the underdevelopment of Benin City, one of oldest state capitals in the country, which he said lacked public water and flyover, promising to change the status, just as he promised to involve state executive members of the APC in governance if elected governor.
In his remarks, the state acting chairman of the APC, Jarret Tenebe, described Imuse as a good man who served the party well, saying that the party will not leave him to walk alone.
