Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday detained three suspected vote buyers in various parts of Anambra State during the governorship election in the state.
Its spokesman, Dele Oyewale, said this in a statement in Abuja yesterday.
He said the arrests, made in multiple locations across the state, followed intelligence reports and field surveillance by operatives deployed to monitor electoral malpractices.
He said the suspects were apprehended while either offering cash inducements to voters or collecting money in exchange for their votes
According to him, the suspects were arrested at Ward 2, Njikoka Local Government; Ward 2(008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government and Umunachi village, Dukonukofia Local Government.
”All the suspects were arrested while participating in the governorship election held on Saturday.
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.
