Founded in 2016, Flutterwave provides payments infrastructure to banks and businesses across 33 countries in Africa, enabling its partners to offer services including online checkout and cross-border transactions.

With 30 years of experience in banking services, finance, strategy, advisory and leadership roles, Fatokun currently chairs the Board Audit and Governance Committee of United Capital and is managing director at Jasfolim Consulting, which offers payment system advisory services for companies in Nigeria.

As a director at CBN, he also oversaw a number of payment-focused projects including the Cashless Nigeria Initiative and the Bank Verification Number project.

With this experience, Flutterwave said Fatokun will help promote best practices ‘as the company moves ahead on its next growth journey.’

Last year, the paytech revealed a series of compliance, regulatory and risk-focused hires in December, appointing Amaresh Mohan as its first chief risk officer, Stephen Cheng as executive vice president of global expansion and payment partnerships, and Amanda Ortega as head of US compliance.

It said, it will now leverage these appointments, including that of Fatokun, to reinforce a ‘culture of transparency, integrity, and accountability’ across its operations.
