Foundation Offers Free Medical Outreach To Over 1,000 Bauchi Citizens

Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation has organised a one-day free medical and surgical outreach with the aim of providing critical healthcare services to underserved populations in Bauchi.

The outreach was conducted at the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Islamic Centre yesterday in collaboration with the Almuhibba Foundation, and Makka Eye Hospital.

Speaking at the occasion, the deputy chairman of Sheikh Dahiru Foundation, Sayyadi Ahmad Tijjani Sheikh Dahiru, described the outreach as a meaningful way to mark the birthday of a renowned Global Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass 125 Maulud anniversary.

He said the medical outreach is one of the series of activities lined up for the week-long Maulud anniversary which began on Saturday January 18, 2025 – Saturday January 25, 2025.

Sayyadi Sheikh Dahiru highlighted the preference of the foundation for supporting healthcare initiatives and other humanitarian activities designed to assist the less privileged, especially in the area of Islamic education.

He “The free medical and surgical outreach serves as a birthday gift to the community, providing solace and relief to those in need.”

He expressed immense joy at the opportunity to bring smiles to individuals who cannot afford medical treatment and called on affluent members of the society to support vulnerable populations.

Bauchi reiterated the foundation’s dedication to positively impact on the lives of needy individuals and commended the smooth conduct of the programme culminating in its successful conduct.

The deputy chairman emphasised the importance of collective efforts in addressing poverty and healthcare challenges bedeviling members of the society.

The secretary of the medical team of Dahiru Bauchi Foundation, Ahmad Sukairaji Mahmood said that over 1,000 benefited from the outreach.

He praised the collaboration, highlighting its transformative impact, stressing that, “Our partnership with the Almuhibba Foundation and Makka Eye Hospital is driven by a shared commitment to assisting vulnerable individuals in the society.”

According to him, the initiative has changed countless lives through surgeries such as cataract removals, other eye surgeries, and the provision of eyeglasses.

The medical outreach has addressed a wide range of medical conditions, including fibroids, appendicitis, goitre, lumps, hernia, hydrocele, and eye-related diseases.

Meanwhile, a team of medical specialists conducted the surgeries, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery in Bauchi State and beyond.

Also speaking at the event, Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa noted that it is the kind of Maulud the disciples of renowned global Islamic scholar used to organise annually being graced by celebrants from various African countries and beyond.

“This time around the Bauchi State government was chosen to host this important gathering, particularly himself, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State was specifically who hosted the Maulud here in Bauchi”, Barrister Isa said.

“There is one programme we call ‘Makon Shehu’ which means ‘Sheikh’s Week’ where scholars come from various academic backgrounds to present scholarly papers”.

“So, we decided to choose today, January 22, 2025, to render free medical outreach to our people who came from various states to receive the medical assistance, ranging from old men and women and children”.

Beneficiaries of the programme have expressed heartfelt gratitude for the life-changing initiative, and commended the foundation’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility to the people, as they prayed for continued blessings for the founder.
