Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sworn in new commissioners in the state, urging them to immediately hit the ground running as the people of the state expect the best from them.
Aiyedatiwa also cautioned the families, friends, and associates of the new commissioners against putting them under undue pressure by soliciting unnecessary favours.
The commissioners include Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, Hon. Ayodele Akande, Engr. Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku and Dr. Oluwaseun Osamaye.
Others include Dr. Tob Loko, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, Hon. Sunday Olajide, Mr. Omoyofunmi Segun Henry, Pastor Bola Ademuwagun, Mr. Leye Akinola, Dr. Banji Ajaka, and Mr. Adesoji.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome) in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa promised that his administration would not abandon any project.
Noting that he carefully selected the best hands for this moment to work with him, the governor said he was in a “hurry to put in place policies and programmes for the all-round development of the State.
“It, therefore, behoves on you to discharge the duties and responsibilities of your office with integrity and patriotism, always bearing in mind the collective interest of the people,” the Governor said.
He further cautioned the new commissioners to refrain from promoting sectional interests, emphasising that their constituencies are not limited to specific areas but the entire state as their scope of responsibility.
According to him, “Your appointments or promotions are a testimony to your capabilities and outstanding achievements in your private endeavours and public service. I have confidence that you will make meaningful contributions to statecraft with a view to delivering the dividends of good governance to our people in the Sunshine State.
“As appointees of government, you must also foster cordial working relationships with the bureaucracy in your various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“You must respect due process and work together with your Accounting Officers and other top government functionaries to ensure that we deliver on our promise of providing dividends of good governance to our people,” he said.
While congratulating the appointees’ family members, friends, and associates, Governor Aiyedatiwa cautioned, “While we appreciate your support, we must not put the new appointees under undue pressure by soliciting unnecessary favours.”
Addressing other party supporters, the Governor reminded, “Let me also use this opportunity to inform those who are yet to be considered for one reward or another that there is room enough for all. We cannot all be Commissioners or Special Advisers at the same time.
“Interestingly, governance entails limitless opportunities for everyone to contribute to the overall development of the state. Your own time of glory shall come in due course.
“Let me restate that our administration will not abandon any project but will rather build upon them while regularly introducing new initiatives that will benefit our people.”
