Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, has appointed Dr Bilyaminu Umar as the pioneer secretary of the newly established Zamfara State Persons with Disabilities’ Board.
The secretary to the Zamfara State government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad, said the appointment takes immediate effect.
A statement by the senior special assistant (Media), Office of the SSG, Suleman Ahmad, said the 40-year-old Bilyaminu is currently serving as a senior veterinary officer (GL 14) in the State Civil Service.
He also serves as the chairman of the National Joint Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), Zamfara State chapter.
He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (2011).
It could be recalled that in September, Governor Lawal appointed an executive chairman and six permanent members of the Board, all of whom were persons with disabilities.
This appointment completes the Board’s leadership structure.
The governor charged the board’s leadership with working with utmost integrity and dedication to safeguarding the rights of PWDs and facilitating their development.
