Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, has said Governor Uba Sani is executing 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres, the first of its kind in the state’s history.

After an inspection tour of the road projects linking Rigasa to the Rigasa Train Station, the reconstruction and upgrade of the Zango, Asibibi, Tudun Wada Road in Kaduna South and Kabala Costain-Aliyu Makama link road and bridge projects, Maiyaki said the tour was part of the government’s commitment to monitor progress on the projects.

He explained that the road projects, including bridges, were being implemented across the state’s urban, semi-urban and rural areas.

Maiyaki said Governor Sani has completed 66 road projects and remains committed to ensuring that no project initiated under his administration will be abandoned.

“The intention of His Excellency is to deliver legacy projects. Quality is as important as completion and that is why these projects are being closely monitored,” he said.

Also, the managing director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, said Governor Uba Sani had approved compensation for 189 households affected by ongoing road projects across four corridors in Rigasa community.

Ahmed said the compensation covered households affected on Makera Road, Ado Garam, Asmau Makarfi, and Lokoja Road, describing them as critical routes for mobility and economic activities in the area.

“His Excellency has graciously approved compensation payments to about 189 households across these four corridors, and the disbursement will commence within the next one to three days,” he said.

According to him, construction work handled by CCECC had progressed steadily after initial delays caused by the need to relocate utilities, such as water pipelines and electricity lines, within the road alignment.

“The contractor is fully mobilised and back on site”

The KADRA boss said Kaduna State government was not owing the contractor a dime, “The only challenge encountered was property compensation and relocation of services, which has now been resolved,” Ahmed stated.

He added that the Lokoja Road project was particularly important, as it links Rigasa to the train station and national facilities, and noted that the contractor would not demobilise equipment until the project was completed.

Ahmed appealed to residents of the affected communities to continue supporting the government, stressing that the road projects were intended to improve access to schools, hospitals, and businesses.
