A political pressure group, “Concerned and Loyal APC Members” yesterday staged a peaceful protest in front of the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex against the continuous leadership of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
Over 300 protesters arrived at the Assembly complex in chartered buses, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Lack of Leadership and Vision dawned on the party during the LG election,” “Party lost Lagos in 2023 presidential election due to party leadership in the state,” and “Composition of just concluded LG election in Lagos one-sided.”
The group’s spokesman, Pastor Faleye Segun, said in his remarks that party members have lost confidence in its leadership.
According to him, Ojelabi cannot lead the party to the next general elections, adding that the last local government election in the state was the worst in Lagos State’s history.
Segun expressed displeasure with members since Oguleye assumed office in 2021, pointing out that the party members had been pushed to the limit.
Addressing the protesters, Hon. Bonu Solomon said that the protest was an internal party affair, adding that the protest letter would be submitted to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for necessary action.
