An eyewitness, Miss Stella Edem, said the girl, Goodnews Umoren, was knocked down by a vehicle which driver refused to stop.

A source told our correspondent that the hit-and-run driver knocked down the girl around Efio Anwan junction, along New Airport Road smashing her head against the tarred road where she died instantly.

The deceased’s father, Mr Umoren, stated that he had nothing to say following his daughter’s death.
“It’s no mean feat to bring up a girl to that age and suddenly discover she is no more”, Umoren lamented.

The deceased father maintained that said the corpse had been released to the family for burial by the police.
Reacting to the issue, police public relations officer, Irene Ugbo, said she was yet to formally comment on the incident.
