The intelligence chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Majid Khademi, has been killed in a wave of Israeli airstrikes, according to Iranian state media.
The report, released on Monday, did not provide further details surrounding the strike.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, confirmed that Khademi was among those targeted, reiterating Israel’s stance on ongoing military operations.
“The Revolutionary Guards are shooting at civilians and we are eliminating the leaders of the terrorists. Iran’s leaders live with a sense of being targeted. We will continue to hunt them down one by one,” Katz said.
Khademi is reported to be among at least 25 individuals killed in coordinated airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel.
In retaliation, Iran launched drones and missiles at targets across the Gulf region and Israel. The attacks reportedly killed at least two people in the city of Haifa late Sunday.
Since the escalation of hostilities, several high-ranking Iranian security officials have been killed, including security chief Ali Larijani and the Revolutionary Guards’ commander-in-chief Mohammad Pakpour.
