Addressing journalists shortly after a BoT meeting at the Polytechnic Campus at the weekend, Aina said the step became necessary to encourage youths to refocus their endowment to legally acceptable ventures.

While commending the efforts of the chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), for the different innovations adopted to tackle drug abuse in the country, he advised the agency to place more premium on enlightening youths on the dangers of using illicit drugs and abuse of drugs.

The BoT chairman, who drew the youths’ attention to the implications of their involvement in fraudulent activities, including the “yahoo-yahoo” and 419 crimes, warned against the “get rich quick” syndrome, which will always lead to a life behind bars and a derailed future.

He pledged the BoT’s commitment to further raising the institution’s academic and moral standards to meet global standards.

Aina harped on the Board’s commitment to provide the enabling environment for a world-class education that will prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

His words: “Our mission is to foster an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, preparing our students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world”.

The BoT chairman, who disclosed that the Polytechnic was established in the year 2006, stated that the school presently offers the following courses: Accountancy, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at the Ordinary National Diploma level while Accountancy and Computer Science are offered at Higher National Diploma level.

The Asiwaju of Iresi, while commending the support of illustrious sons and daughters of Iresi for their commitment to the community‘s development, charged the general public to embrace the opportunity provided by the community-based institution.

He commended the institution‘s dissolved Governing Council and charged the newly constituted interim Council with working hand-in-hand with the school‘s management to achieve excellence.
