A former senior special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, has applauded the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on his successful defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as timely and strategic for the state’s growth.
Dr. Dudafa, who also served as Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Development, said the governor’s decision to join the ruling party was a wise and well-considered move that aligns Bayelsa State with the centre for accelerated development and greater political inclusion.
He commended Diri for his leadership style, noting that his defection reflects a pragmatic approach to governance built on consultation and inclusiveness.
“Your decision to work in harmony with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in synergy with your Assured Prosperity vision, will undoubtedly bring about the needed transformation and development for the people of Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta at large,” Dudafa said.
The former presidential aide also praised Diri’s performance in office, highlighting that his administration has been marked by purposeful leadership and visible results.
“Since assuming office, your guiding principle has been clear and consistent, to consult widely, act in the public interest, and deliver measurable development outcomes,” he stated.
Dudafa assured the governor of his unwavering loyalty and support, promising to continue working with his administration to sustain peace and progress in the state.
“We shall continue to stand by your leadership and lend our support to ensure that you finish strong. Your political maturity and developmental focus have repositioned Bayelsa for a brighter future,” he added.
He further noted that Diri’s move to align Bayelsa with the federal government was not just political, but developmental, adding that it opens new opportunities for collaboration that would enhance infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the state.
Dudafa concluded by commending Diri’s courage and foresight, saying his defection to the APC signals a new phase of partnership between Bayelsa and the federal government.
“Your decision shows true leadership and vision. Aligning Bayelsa with the centre will attract more federal presence and ensure inclusive governance for our people,” he said.
