The Chief Whip of the 10th House of Representatives and member representing Akko Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, has extended warm felicitations to Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, being marked today, June 12, 2026.

According to him, democracy may not be perfect, but it remains the best form of government for giving every Nigerian a voice, regardless of tribe, religion, or social status.

In a statement issued by his Media Unit, Hon. Kumo congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Assembly, state governors, and citizens across the country for sustaining Nigeria’s democratic journey.

He described June 12 as a day to honour the sacrifices of countless patriots, activists, and civil society leaders whose courage and resilience paved the way for the restoration of civilian rule.

“Democracy is not perfect, but it remains the best system of government for giving every Nigerian a voice, regardless of tribe, religion, or social status.

“Twenty-seven years of uninterrupted civilian rule since 1999 is a milestone we must continue to protect through active participation, respect for the rule of law, and tolerance,” he said.

Kumo commended the Gombe State Government under Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya (CON), Dan Majen Gombe, for the achievements recorded since his assumption of office in 2019.

He noted that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration has delivered transformative projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture while upholding transparency and fiscal discipline.

“Governor Inuwa Yahaya has shown that purposeful leadership can bring tangible democratic dividends to the people. Gombe State today stands as a model of good governance and inclusive development,” he stated.

On his stewardship in Akko Federal Constituency, Kumo reaffirmed his commitment to delivering democratic dividends at the grassroots. He highlighted ongoing and completed constituency interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare access, youth and women empowerment, and job creation.

These efforts, he said, are aimed at improving living standards, expanding economic opportunities, and ensuring inclusive development across communities in Akko.

Addressing his constituents, the Chief Whip further stressed that democracy must translate into better roads, functional schools, improved access to healthcare, and opportunities for youth and women to thrive.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to legislative efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, supporting electoral reforms, and improving constituency representation.

Kumo urged young Nigerians to engage actively in politics and civic education and prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity across Nigeria as the Tinubu administration implements reforms for national stability and growth.

“Democracy is a collective responsibility. As we celebrate today, let us renew our commitment to Nigeria’s unity and to building a country where every citizen can live with dignity and hope,” he added.
