The governor’s media aide, Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, confirmed the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

“His Excellency Gov. Abba K. Yusuf while signing a law for the creation of Kano State Security Neighborhood Watch, today Tuesday 18/2/2025,” he wrote.

This comes two weeks after the Kano State House of Assembly passed the bill following extensive deliberations.

The law, among other provisions, empowers the security outfit to combat crime, make arrests, and operate across the state while also mandates that only non-partisan individuals can be appointed to lead the agency.
