The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Kiyawa, revealed this to newsmen on Tuesday in an emergency press briefing.

He gave a breakdown of the money, saying it included Dollars, CFA, and Naira, all of which were also stolen from another dealer of the funds.

“Counterfeit Currencies totalling One Hundred and Twenty-nine Billion, Five Hundred and Forty-two Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-three Thousand Naira (N129,542,823,000:00) were recovered.

“Three Million Three Hundred and Sixty-six Thousand Counterfeit Dollars ($3,366,000)

“Fifty-one Million Nine Hundred and Seventy Thousand Counterfeit Cefa (CFA51,970,000).

“One Million Four Hundred and Forty-three Thousand Naira (N1,443,000)” he stated.

Both the two individuals arrested with the money and the person from whom they stole it are in police custody, helping with the investigation into the counterfeit’s actual producers.

More so, the police command has recovered six live ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles and three parcels of 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

He further revealed that the command had recovered 250 pieces of diazepam tablets, 278 sheep, and seven cattle, all of which were part of the recoveries.

“These approaches have resulted not only in the apprehension of criminals but also in deterring potential offenders from engaging in criminal activities.

“Major cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, thuggery and drug dealings have been surmounted”, the PPRO stated.
