Chairman of Kano State Concerned Citizens (KCC), Alhaji Shehu Mohammed (Sarkin Shanu of Kano) has said that the association is still active after the death of its founder, Alhaji Bashir Tofa.

He therefore assured its beneficiaries that they will continue to enjoy more social intervention programmes to enable them live a better life.

Mohammed spoke yesterday on the socio-economic challenges hampering the progress of the state.

Mohammed who took the responsibility of steering the affairs of the association to attain greatness since the demise of its chairman, Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, said since the passing away of the renowned political actor and business mogul, nothing had stopped.

He said the KCC had continued with the laudable social interventions and mobilisation of traders, youths and women to enable them to rise up to their responsibilities.

“In accomplishing similar task, KCC met with the Chairman of NDLEA and former Governor of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa, and discussed youth restiveness and the reasons behind  their involvement in drug abuse,” he added.

He said it was wrong to assume that the KCC had died with its former chairman, adding,” it’s not true, in fact, the association is even becoming more stronger by the day.

“We are doing our best to bring in new initiatives and fresh ideas that would make Kano stand taller amongst its peers.”

On his part, the vice chairman of KCC, Engineer Muhammad Barodo, said the association had so far met with industrialists and manufacturers and assisted them with useful advice on how to go about their normal businesses.

“We have also had an interface with politicians at various levels and warned them on the dangers of hate speech and anything that could jeopardize the relative peace being enjoyed in the state.

“We will draw their attention to the need to be peaceful and exhibit good moral conducts while politicking and as well encourage them to carry out their activities without rancour,”   Barodo added.
