Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris yesterday swore in the new chairman of Gwandu local government council, Hon. Atiku Ahmed Mandiya who until his new post was the vice chairman of the local government.
He took over from the former local government chairman, Hon Atiku Bello Kurya who contested and won the state assembly seat representing Gwandu in the 2023 election.
The governor was represented by his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi during the swearing in ceremony held at Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Tafidan Kabi after the new chairman was administered the oath of office by acting chief judge of the state, Justice Abubakar Umar, charged him to be honest and hard working in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Speaking with journalists, the new council boss promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of and government of Kebbi State.
He said he would continue from where his predecessor stopped in moving Gwandu and Kebbi State forward.
