Kwara State Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Caucus has cautioned individuals and groups against politicising security challenges.
The group, in a statement signed by its public relations officer, Sulaiman Cementi, reminded those trying to gain cheap publicity by politicising insecurity that the challenge is not peculiar to Kwara.
The caucus was reacting to a statement credited to the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) which raised alarm over the insecurity in Kwara North and South.
The caucus said every well-meaning Kwarans should join the government to tackle the security challenges in parts of the state, instead of seeking to benefit and score cheap political point from the unfortunate situation.
The group cautioned the leadership of IEYDA from dragging the name of the Emir of Ilorin into the mud through the reckless mentioning of the name of the highly revered monarch in their warped statement.
It noted that the IEYDA statement was the handiwork of some faceless politicians who would go to any length at promoting their selfish ambitions, rather than contributing meaningfully to the unity, progress and development of the state.
The caucus noted the efforts of the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at restoring peace to the troubled communities and maintain law and order in every part of the state.
It also applauded the governor’s directive to KWASSIP to take inventory and immediately extend palliatives to the victims of banditry in the affected communities.
The caucus hailed the governor’s pragmatic approach to the issue at hand as well as his concern for the people of the affected communities.
It enjoined the people of the state to join hands with the governor in his efforts to make the state safe for all to live.
