The Kwara State government has officially handed over the newly renovated and upgraded indoor sports hall at the Ilorin Stadium Complex to the State Sports Commission. This significant development is expected to boost youth participation in sports and establish Kwara as a prominent sporting hub.
The completion of the rehabilitation work aligns with Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision to reposition the state for sports development and international engagement.
Dr. Segun Ogunsola, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, represented by Alhaja Risikat AbdulAzeez, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, lauded the Governor’s progress in sports development. He expressed optimism that the enhanced facility would greatly benefit the state’s athletes and sports officials.
The Commissioner urged the Kwara State Sports Commission to leverage the new facility to elevate the state’s sporting profile and pledged the government’s unwavering support for the sector.
Mr. Bolakale Magaji, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for revitalising the facility, which had been in disrepair for decades. He described the upgrade as a testament to the Governor’s dedication to improving sports development and management.
Mr. Magaji assured that the Commission would ensure the facility delivers desired results, further unlocking Kwara’s sporting potential and projecting the state as an attractive destination for sporting events.
