Labour Party has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s departure for a 10-day vacation in France and London.

The interim national publicity secretary of the party, Prince Tony Akeni, in a statement released to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, said since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu had spent over 160 days abroad, neglecting the pressing issues facing Nigeria.

He highlighted the 135 million citizens who fell into poverty in the first 18 months of Tinubu’s administration, as well as the alarming rate of violent crimes leading to daily deaths in the country.

Akeni also drew attention to the trend of APC presidents, including late Buhari, spending a significant part of their tenure outside Nigeria for medical and social tourisms.

He emphasised the need for a leader who prioritises building global standard health facilities in the country, instead of relying on expensive treatment overseas.

“We call on Nigerians to seek an end to the era of At-Home-Abroad (AHA) presidents by voting for a political party and president who will prioritise the well-being and development of the country,” he said.
