A woman has taken to social media to demand justice after a police officer allegedly stabbed her father at their family home in the Ise-Ekiti area of Ekiti State.

In a series of emotional video recordings that have since gone viral, the lady recounted how the attack, allegedly carried out by a police officer serving as a local chairman’s personal orderly, stemmed from a disagreement between her younger brother and a female classmate.

According to her, the classmate reported the argument to her boyfriend, who reportedly arrived at their home, accompanied by two police officers, claiming to be effecting an arrest.

“My kid brother had an argument with a classmate. She angrily went on to call her boyfriend so that he would come and fight my kid brother at home,” she explained.

She added, “But when they got home, they did not meet my kid brother. They only met his elder brother.”

The situation reportedly escalated when the officers tried to arrest her older brother as the young man questioned their motives and asked why he was being taken to the station which one of the officers allegedly responded with physical assault.

“They started questioning the elder brother. He started calling on my dad to come out. Then the next person came from nowhere, removed a knife, and stabbed my dad in his belly,” she cried. “Fortunately, my dad was able to use his hand to guide the knife, but the knife tore through his hand,” she claimed.

In one of the videos recorded from the hospital, the woman showed her father lying on a bed, injured and in visible pain.

She claimed that the officer responsible for stabbing the man was not only known in the community but also had a reputation for violence.

“Everybody is complaining about this guy and he’s still working. He’s still in service. What is going on? Because he’s a chairman’s orderly, they left him there and said there is a procedure,” she said.

She expressed outrage that the officer had not been detained despite the severity of the attack, citing police protocol as the reason.

“They are doing absolutely nothing because they said he is a police officer. They don’t just arrest a police officer like that. But if it’s a normal person like me that did that, by now I’ll be in jail.”

In another video shot outside the police station, she confronted one of the officers believed to be involved.

“Go back to the street that you are, and join that cultist. You are not meant to be a police (officer) and I’ll make sure they dismiss you. If nothing happens, your face will be posted everywhere on the internet. Murderer!”

Back at the apartment where the incident allegedly took place, she filmed the scene, showing blood stains and disarray, claiming the officers had intended to kill her father.

“They came here to actually kill him, but fortunately they did not succeed. Look at what they did to my dad without him committing any crime. He did absolutely nothing, but they did this to him — all because two people had an argument.”

The woman criticised the Nigerian Police, questioning their commitment to protecting civilians.

“It’s a very shameful thing for the department of police to do this. This is a terrible injustice. We can’t even trust the police anymore. They say police is our friend, but at this point, we don’t even know what is going on again.”

She called on relevant authorities, including President Bola Tinubu and the Commissioner of Police in the state to intervene and ensure justice is served.

“Please, Mr. President. Please, Commissioner of Police. Every effort, at this point, we need your help. They should do something about this because this cannot keep happening. Nigeria is failing us for real,” she lamented.

At the time of this report, the Ekiti State Police Command was yet to release an official statement regarding the incident and efforts to reach the local authorities for comment were unsuccessful.
