Despite the controversy generated over the local government elections slated for February 22, 2025, in Osun State, the exercise is underway in all the 30 LGAs as planned on Saturday.
Though the turnout was low as at the time of filing this report, security operatives were located in strategic positions to provide security and enforce the restriction of vehicular movement ordered by the state governor. Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking after casting his vote at his polling unit in Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, Ede, Adeleke described the election as peaceful and in line with due process.
He urged all eligible voters to exercise their franchise peacefully.
Adeleke emphasised the importance of grassroots democracy and called on the people to participate actively without fear of intimidation.
The governor described the election process as seamless.
