Liverpool manager Arne Slot has offered insights regarding Florian Wirtz’s injury following his absence from the team during their recent 1-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.
Wirtz was initially included in the starting line-up at the City Ground but had to withdraw during the warm-up, leading to Curtis Jones stepping in as his replacement.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Slot expressed cautious optimism about Wirtz’s condition. “We don’t believe it is very serious, but he felt discomfort in his back during the warm-up, which prevented him from starting the match.”
Slot further explained, “He wasn’t close to 100 per cent. After spending six to eight months in this league, he understands that no matter how skilled you are, you need to be fully fit at this level. Therefore, we decided against playing him. We hope and expect he’ll be back with us next week, but of course, the situation can be unpredictable.”
