Super Eagles star forward Ademola Lookman has rejected Atalanta’s contract offer, as he is reportedly determined to force his transfer to Inter Milan.
As reported by Sky Sport via FCInter1908, Atalanta’s final effort to retain the 27-year-old was unsuccessful. Faced with the impending loss of Lookman, Atalanta made a last-ditch attempt to salvage the situation by matching Inter’s contract offer in the hope of changing the player’s mind.
However, Lookman remains set on joining Inter. With his refusal of the contract proposal, Atalanta finds itself in a difficult position. Ivan Juric’s side now has limited options amid Inter’s persistent pursuit.
Despite an unsuccessful €40 million bid for the Nigerian forward, the transfer is now looking like a near certainty. Inter may need to increase their offer, but Lookman’s move seems merely a matter of time.
Once the deal is finalised, the Nerazzurri may shift their attention to Parma’s Giovanni Leoni, who could be Inter’s final acquisition this summer.
Lookman played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s historic triumph, scoring during their 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final for the 2023/2024 season, securing the club’s first-ever European title.
