Man Nabbed For Alleged Robbery, Killing Of Kano Resident

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old Aliyu Umar in connection with armed robbery that resulted in the death of a resident in Danbare Quarters, Kano.

Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Kiyawa said the incident occurred on Monday, May 5, 2025, around 6:40 am.

Kiyawa narrated that two armed men reportedly broke into the residence of the victim, a 30-year-old Shehu Muhammad and attacked him with a long, sharp cutlass, inflicting fatal injuries on him.

Upon receiving a distress call from a resident of the area, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, swiftly deployed a team of operatives and detectives to the scene.

Police said the victim was immediately rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

One of the suspects, Umar, was apprehended at the scene, and the weapon used in the attack recovered.

Police said the suspect is cooperating with investigators and will be charged to court accordingly.

The Command commended members of the Danbare community for their prompt action in reporting the incident and assisting in the suspect’s arrest.

Police further reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
