Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, has stated that the club is not prepared to participate in European competitions, including the Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League, this season. The former Sporting CP boss highlighted the need for time to establish a solid foundation before competing against Europe’s elite clubs.
United finished last season in 15th place and missed the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League after losing 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. Amorim told Sky Sports, “I believe we are not ready to play in Europe. That is my feeling.”
“To compete effectively in the Champions League and then transition to the Premier League, we need time to develop as a team. We require time to prepare for every game,” he added. Amorim’s side is set to face Grimsby Town at Blundell Park in the English Football League Cup on Wednesday.
