The new permanent secretary of the ministry, Olusesan Adebiyi, made the commitment at a reception ceremony held in his honour in Abuja yesterday.
Adebiyi also pledged his commitment to ensuring good planning that would lead to development in the region, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education and empowerment.

He said he would ensure the actualisation of the vision and mandate of the ministry, especially in the areas of environmental degradation, poverty alleviation, security and empowerment amongst others.

In a statement by the director of press and public relations in the ministry, Deworitshe Patricia, Adebiyi stressed that maximum calmness and peace would only be maintained in the region when projects were effectively executed for the alleviation of poverty and transformation of lives in the region.

He acknowledged that the challenges in the region were enormous, especially in the area of construction works, adding that it would be surmounted with the right mind set and determination.

He therefore appealed for maximum cooperation of the staff of the ministry in the bid to move the Niger Delta region forward.

Earlier in a welcome address, the overseeing director in the office of the permanent secretary, Mr Alfred Abah, had assured the permanent secretary of the commitment and readiness of the management team to work with him in achieving the mandate of the ministry.
