To operationalise its Performance Management System (PMS) as part of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP2), the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has organised an in-house sensitisation workshop on PMS for its directors and heads of units.
In a press statement signed by the ministry’s director of information, Badamasi Salisu Haiba, said the permanent secretary, of the housing ministry, Dr Marcus Ogunbiyi, in his opening remarks, yesterday in Abuja, tasked the participants to pay maximum attention and take full interest in the PMS policy introduced by the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation

“PMS is a real thing now in the Federal Civil Service. It’s a policy that will be implemented in different stages. Directors, especially, must understand it well because they are critical in its effective implementation in their MDA,” he said.

The new PMS policy is all about tracking performance of employees in a consistent and measurable manner.
It was introduced to replace the old annual performance evaluation report system (apers), being used for years in evaluating employees for promotion.
