The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a reduction of about N200,000 in the fares for the 2026 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, The Cable reported yesterday.
In a statement, NAHCON principal information officer, Sani Shafi, quoted the chairman of the commission,

Abdullahi Usman, as saying that the fares were approved by the federal government after consultations with stakeholders, including the forum of states leadership.

According to Shafi, intending pilgrims from the Maiduguri zone, comprising Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states, will pay N8.1 million, while those from other northern and southern states will pay N8.2 million and N8.5 million, respectively.
The commission had earlier pegged a provisional fare of N8.5 million pending final negotiations with service providers.

“After due consultations with all the relevant stakeholders, including the Forum of States leadership, and obtaining the approval of the federal government, the chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman, hereby announces the 2026 Hajj fare as follows,” the statement said.

“Maiduguri Yola Zone (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba) will pay N8,118,333.67. Other Northern States will pay N8,244,813.6, and Southern States will pay N8,561,013.67.

“Compared to what was charged last year, this year, each pilgrim is to pay an average of two hundred thousand naira less.” The commission asked all intending pilgrims to complete payment before the December 31 deadline.
