The National Examinations Council (NECO) has dismissed an online publication claiming that it was conducting a recruitment exercise, describing it as fake and the handiwork of fraudsters.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday by the Council’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO urged the public to disregard the purported announcement.

“The attention of NECO has been drawn to an online publication purporting that the Council is planning to recruit new staff. We wish to categorically state that this publication is false and should be ignored,” Sani said.

NECO further warned that the publication was designed by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.

“The Council hereby strongly states that the publication is the product of the imagination of fraudsters who are out to defraud innocent members of the public,” it added.

The Council reassured Nigerians of its commitment to transparency, noting that any genuine recruitment exercise would follow due process.
