Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the aegis of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) have urged Nigerian workers not to lose hope despite the unsupportive socio-economic climate created by the All Progressives Congress (APC)- led national government.

In a statement to mark Workers’ Day, the PDP governors said the Nigerian worker is the backbone of the nation’s progress and prosperity.

The statement acknowledged workers’ unwavering dedication, resilience, and sacrifices in the face of challenges, adding that they remain the driving force behind Nigeria’s development.

“We recognise the immense struggles you endure daily, navigating an increasingly harsh socio-economic environment.

“Despite these obstacles, your commitment to building a better Nigeria is heroic. Your strength is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Nigerian worker.”

The governors said workers’ welfare remains sacrosanct to them as demonstrated in the implementation of the agreed minimum wage, among other incentives, across all PDP-controlled states.

“As we celebrate your achievements and contributions, let us reflect on the need for continued resilience and unity. Together, we can overcome adversity and forge a brighter future for ourselves, our families, and future generations.

“Though the socio-economic climate may feel unsupportive and the national government may seem distant from the realities of workers’ plight, never lose hope. Let us keep the flame of determination alive and demand the change we deserve through solidarity and peaceful advocacy. Today and always, we honour you – the heartbeat of Nigeria’s aspirations.

“Happy Workers’ Day to every Nigerian worker who continues to stand tall for our nation’s growth,” the statement said.
