Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has praised his former teammate Alexander Isak following the striker’s high-profile transfer to Liverpool, which was finalised on the summer transfer deadline day. Isak’s departure from Newcastle was not without drama, as he had to resort to a strike and boycott training in order to force a move away from the club, who were initially reluctant to sell the talented forward.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the transfer, Gordon has publicly expressed his admiration for Isak, describing him as one of his best teammates. In a heartfelt post on social media, the England international wrote, “Regardless of the situation and what’s gone on, it’s been a pleasure to play with you. One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch and – more importantly – a great person and teammate. I wish you nothing but the best, brother.”

During their time together at Newcastle, Gordon and Isak combined for a notable ten goals in 84 appearances, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success as they lifted the Carabao Cup last season – their first trophy in 70 years. As Isak embarks on his new journey with Liverpool, Gordon has extended his best wishes, emphasising the strong bond they formed on and off the pitch.
