Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has said that the government has begun implementation of the plans to address infrastructure deficit in the state even as he sought compensation for the contribution of the state to Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He said during the inauguration of the new leadership of Niger State Development Forum that the establishment of the Forum was a great idea, especially with its interest in the Development of Niger State.
Bago stated that the state government was working on 50, 30, and 10-year long-term, mid-term, and short-term plans to address the infrastructural deficit and other relevant sectors of the State.
He maintained that Niger State is blessed with natural, human and capital resources hence, the New Niger agenda, initiated to engender development in the State and make it compete favorably with other States of the Federation.
While congratulating the new leaders of the Forum, the Governor charged the forum to make efforts to ensure that Niger State is adequately compensated for its contributions to the creation of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and also facilitate good placing indigenes of the state working in Federal establishments.
The New Chairman of the Niger State Development Forum, who is also the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji ohammed Idris Malagi in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment and complete acceptance of the leadership role of the Forum and will work diligently to move it forward.
He said the forum, which is non-political and impartial, was designed to help the state develop regardless of any differences. Its vision and strategic priorities are to enhance policy advisory capacity, expand membership, and collaborate.
Also speaking, the Co-Chairman who doubles as the Minister of State, Agriculture and Food Security, Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu said there is no better time for the Forum to fly higher than now, especially with the New Niger mantra and promised to give his best for the success of the Forum.
The former and pioneer Chairman of the Niger State Development Forum and immediate past Minister of state Foreign Affairs, Amb Zubairu Dada said he is handing over the mantle of leadership with confidence and pride, knowing that the Forum is in good hands.
