Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has approved the reduction of registration fees for all students in Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna by 50 percent, as part of its efforts to ease the burden on parents following the removal of fuel subsidy.
In a statement signed by the Pro- Chancellor, Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Professor Muhammed Yahaya Kuta, the governor said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the financial hardships on parents.
He said the decision would reduce the effect of the current economic hardship on students and their parents, who may be suffering the consequences of fuel subsidy removal and economic hardship.
Prof Kuta said Governor Bago had directed that all students studying regular courses in the institution are to enjoy the total relief of a 50 percent reduction in the registration fee in the ongoing 2023/2024 academic session.
He added that the governor hoped that the beneficiaries and entire people of the state would lend their unflinching support and cooperation to the present administration in the state in a bid develop education at all levels.
