This was disclosed in a statement issued by the postmaster-general of the federation and CEO of NIPOST, Tola Odeyemi, as Nigeria on October 9, 2024 joined the rest of the world under the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to celebrate this year’s World Post Day which marked the 150th anniversary of the creation of the UPU.

Highlighting the theme of this year’s World Post Day, which was “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations”, the NIPOST boss said the agency has made immense achievements. She stressed that recently, NIPOST and Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“The implementation of this partnership, MSMEs can anticipate a 15% reduction in courier service costs, improved market access and enhanced last -mile delivery capabilities, contributing to job creation and economic development across Nigeria,” she said.
