The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in collaboration with the Abia State Sports Council, is organising a Sports Administration Course for its members.
The course will run from Wednesday, November 13 to Friday November 15, 2024, at the State Sports Council, Umuahia.
The initiative is part of the International Olympic Committee’s educational programmes through Olympic Solidarity and the National Olympic Committee, aims to equip sports administrators with the essential knowledge and tools to drive change and improvement within their sports organizations.
The course is also designed to help stakeholders develop and maintain robust and sustainable administrative structures that can deliver the necessary support to athletes and sports administrators.
The course will cover topics based on the Olympic Solidarity Sports Manual, includings principles, structure, and leadership of the Olympic Movement
This edition targets stakeholders from State Sports Councils/Commissions and Higher Institutions.
The programme will be delivered both onsite and virtually, anchored by two International Olympic Committee Certified National Course Directors,
Mr Nweri Emmanuel Dr (Mrs) Esther Oluwatoyin Aluko and Chidobi Deborah Project officer, along with other invited speakers.
Prof Fasan Clement, Programme Director of IOC Advanced Sports Management Course, Dr Akin Amao, Former Chairman NOC Medical & Scientific Commission, Prof Dominic Leah Funmilayo, University of Ilorin, Prof Abiodun Moronfolu, Lagos State University Mr Kweku Tandoh, Former Chairman Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Oyebode Oluseyi CEO Dynaspro Sports Academy and Dr Rasheed Oyhikire, Deputy Dean.
The course would be coordinated by an NOC under Secretary, Mrs Deborah Chidobi.
The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel will declare open the workshop.
